Who would have thought when George Stevenson invented the steam engine that the railway journey would have taken us to the queues of tourists searching for platform 9 3/4 of Hogwart’s and Harry Potters fame. Such is the marriage of reality and fantasy that cobweb though our world today.

From left to right: J. S. Fry & Sons released the first ever chocolate bar in 1847, Joseph Swan was the first to actually create the light bulb in 1878, Alexander Fleming invented Penicillin and changed modern medicine forever in 1928, J. K Rowling introduced us to wizards and moguls in Harry Potter in 1997 which took the world by storm, James Bond became the epitome of cool back in 1953 and is still the worlds favorite agent. Tim Berners-Lee presented us with the greatest new form of communication after the telephone, the Internet, in 1989. Britain also contributed to the arts in a very big way, giving the world legendary music groups such as Queen, the Spice Girls and, of course, the Beatles.

 

This week, we’ll be letting you pick between two delicious smoothies…

 Our MN Popeye Smoothie

• 1 cup of emerald green spinach
• ½ cup of great British oats
• 1/2 cup plain yoghurt
• 1/4 cup fresh apple juice
• 1 teaspoon honey (optional)

 

 

1. Place fruit, oats, yoghurt and apple juice in a blender.
2. Blend till smooth.
3. Pour into a glass and serve. 

Our Naughty British Smoothie

• 1 cup of fresh British Berries
• 1 Tablespoon of Bourneville Coco Powder
• 4 ice cubes
• 300ml skimmed milk

 

1. Place all ingredients in a blender.
2. Blend till smooth.
3. Pour into a glass and serve.
